Job Description
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is recruiting Assistant Examinations Officer III (Audit) to support internal audit functions related to examination finances, processes, and compliance. The role involves verifying financial transactions, ensuring adherence to audit standards, and providing assurance on the integrity of financial operations using computerized audit techniques.
Key Responsibilities for Assistant Examinations Officer
- Conduct routine internal audits of financial transactions and examination-related expenditures
- Verify payments to examination centres, supervisors, and vendors
- Review financial records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with WAEC policies
- Assist in the preparation of audit working papers and reports
- Identify risks and recommend improvements to internal control systems
- Support the use of computer-assisted audit tools and maintain proper documentation
- Participate in pre-examination and post-examination audit exercises
- Perform any other audit duties as assigned by superiors
Required Qualifications and Skills for Assistant Examinations Officer
- National Diploma (ND) in Accountancy from a recognized institution
- Must be computer literate with proficiency in accounting and audit software
- Minimum of five (5) credits in SSCE/WASSCE including English Language and Mathematics at one sitting or six (6) credits at not more than two (2) sittings
- Good understanding of auditing principles and financial controls
- Strong analytical, numerical, and attention-to-detail skills
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
- Ability to work effectively under pressure during peak periods
