Job Description
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is recruiting Assistant Examinations Officer III (Accounts) to support the finance and accounting functions related to examination administration. This entry-level role involves maintaining accurate financial records, processing payments, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards while utilizing computerized accounting systems.
Key Responsibilities for Assistant Examinations Officer
- Handle day-to-day accounting transactions and financial operations
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and examination-related accounts
- Process payments to examination centres, supervisors, and vendors
- Assist in budget preparation, monitoring, and expenditure tracking
- Reconcile accounts and prepare periodic financial reports
- Ensure proper documentation and retirement of advances
- Support the use of accounting software and maintain computer literacy standards
- Perform any other accounting duties as assigned by superiors
Required Qualifications and Skills for Assistant Examinations Officer
- National Diploma (ND) in Accountancy, Banking and Finance from a recognized institution or Accounting Technicians Scheme (ATS) Certificate of ICAN or ACCA
- Must be computer literate with proficiency in accounting software and MS Office
- Minimum of five (5) credits in SSCE/WASSCE including English Language and Mathematics at one sitting or six (6) credits at not more than two (2) sittings
- Strong numerical, analytical, and record-keeping skills
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure during peak examination periods
