Mechanical Technician Job at BOURBON Oil & Gas
BOURBON Oil & Gas is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to join its operations team in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. This full-time opportunity is ideal for skilled mechanical professionals with extensive experience in the marine or oil and gas industry who can ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of critical mechanical equipment.
The successful candidate will oversee the maintenance of mechanical systems within the Amadi Base facilities, including fuel tank farms, diesel generators, fuel purification systems, and other essential equipment while ensuring operational efficiency and safety.

Job Summary
The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for operating, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment at the Amadi Base facilities. The role includes supervising fuel attendants, supporting passenger transfer operations, maintaining spare parts inventory, and ensuring mechanical systems operate safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Maintenance
- Operate and maintain all mechanical equipment within the base facilities.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel generators, fuel purification systems, and fuel storage facilities.
- Conduct routine inspections and carry out basic mechanical repairs.
- Ensure optimal performance and reliability of all mechanical systems.
Fuel Operations
- Lead the operation and maintenance of:
- Fuel tank farms
- Bunkering systems
- Fuel purification equipment
- Monitor fuel handling activities while ensuring compliance with company procedures and safety standards.
Inspection & Reporting
- Complete daily inspection and maintenance reports.
- Prepare final work reports and equipment handover documentation.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment history.
- Monitor spare parts inventory and ensure stock availability.
Operational Support
- Assist with passenger transfer operations while maintaining a zero-incident safety record.
- Supervise Fuel Attendants and ensure operational best practices are followed.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the mechanical maintenance team.
Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- High School Diploma or OND.
- OPITO Global 2 Training Certificate – Maintenance Practices (Mechanical).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance within the marine or oil and gas industry.
- Hands-on experience operating and servicing diesel generators.
- Experience with bunkering operations and fuel purification systems.
- Strong understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work safely under operational and industrial standards.
