Job Description
NCDMB is recruiting a seasoned Well Completion / Well Intervention Advisor to lead the safe, compliant, and effective delivery of deepwater well intervention campaigns—primarily supported by OIMR vessels or drilling rigs. This critical senior role owns operational execution, well integrity governance, technical backstopping, contractor performance oversight, and the institutional learning loop that continuously improves intervention outcomes across affiliate assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Guarantee successful execution of Deepwater well interventions with OIMR / Light Well Intervention vessels or rigs
- Enforce full compliance with applicable codes of practice, HSE standards, and environmental protection requirements
- Proactively identify well integrity threats, drive remedial action planning, and close out mitigations
- Ensure suitability of personnel, equipment, and service providers to operational needs and readiness expectations
- Prepare and approve rigorous operation guidelines, contingency frameworks, and intervention execution programs
- Deliver deepwater intervention operations safely within schedule and budget
- Provide technical specialist support for stimulation, coiled tubing, slickline, e-line, tractors, RDS tools, and related services
- Serve as focal point for contract execution for stimulation, CT, slickline, e-line, tractor, and RDS; ensure equipment/tooling spares, maintenance, and asset readiness
- Establish normalized methodologies and contingency guidelines for intervention activities across assigned OML portfolio
- Lead offshore operations execution; remain hands-on and mobilize offshore for interventions; maintain strong interface with drilling/completion and other disciplines
- Prepare comprehensive end-of-job intervention reports capturing lessons learned and drive improvement into future campaigns
- Lead or support incident investigations; ensure root-cause lessons are integrated into future programs and governing docs, with closeout tracking
- Define scope for well intervention tenders; support CFT evaluations, site visits, audits, contractor evaluations, and performance tracking
- Lead engineering of targeted intervention solutions and follow up emerging technologies for performance optimization
- Maintain compliance leadership, procurement conduct, contractor oversight, emergency preparedness, and active participation in boards of inquiry if required
Required Qualification and Skills
- Degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 10 years experience in Well Completion and/or Well Intervention operations
- Valid IWCF (or equivalent) well-control certification
- Mandatory: Supervisory Level 4 IWCF Intervention (combined Slickline, E-Line, CT & Snubbing)
- Mandatory: Combined Surface and Subsea IWCF Level 4
- Preferred: offshore and deepwater exposure; familiar with large deepwater field developments
- Strong command of well integrity, operational risk, planning logic, contingency readiness, and remediation governance
- Demonstrated leadership, contractor oversight, and incident response coordination ability
- Proven technical reporting, mentoring, compliance stewardship, and continuous improvement habits
- Ability to act decisively under pressure with disciplined communication in high-risk/emergency events
