Job Description
Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) is recruiting an IT Control Systems Engineer, Offshore to strengthen Process Control Domain (PCD) IT controls and operational technology (OT) security across Nigeria’s onshore and offshore assets. The role ensures safe and reliable production operations by managing PCD security assurance, incident response, firewall and endpoint protection, patching, access control, and service transition for projects delivering into the control systems IT landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain safe, secure, steady and reliable production operations by ensuring effective PCD IT controls
- Provide 1st line support and request management for PCD services and systems
- Manage SecurePlant, L2/L3 firewall devices, central antivirus and patch deployment
- Coordinate PCD assurance activities: physical security, backups/DR, remote access, antivirus and OS patching
- Liaise with technical authorities to ensure IT security compliance within the PCD
- Drive implementation of OT incident response and incident management strategies
- Promote “Think Secure” practices and raise PCD IT security awareness among site staff
- Advise stakeholders on threats and cybersecurity advisories with recommended actions
- Manage user access to supported systems (e.g., SecurePlant, SharePoint)
- Coordinate firewall rule reviews and ensure risk assessment and alignment with business needs
- Ensure compliance with business controls for changes (MoC, Permit to Work) in the PCD IT landscape
- Ensure supportability and transition for IT/business-led projects into PCD operations
- Coordinate logistics, scheduling, and maintenance planning for control systems IT support personnel
- Supervise core CS-IT activities including backup/DR, remote access, endpoint protection, configuration changes, and inventory management
- Perform deviation management and risk assessments for Nigeria PCD facilities
- Monitor IT infrastructure services supporting PCD (WAN, routers, SecurePlant) to prevent unapproved operational impacts
Required Qualification and Skills
- University Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Communications Engineering or Applied Sciences
- 3–5 years experience in IT business analysis, IT security, IT service delivery and infrastructure support
- Last 3 years must be focused on operations technology (OT) security (preferred in Oil & Gas)
- Strong knowledge of control systems, IT networks, and IT security
- Good understanding of IT security standards/frameworks: NIST 800-82, DEPs, OneITCF
- Experience with IT and business risk management
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in multicultural environments
- Preferred certifications: GICSP, CISSP; CCNP (Enterprise/Security), MCSA, SC100, ITIL v4
- Exposure to process automation and controls optimization is an advantage
