Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) is recruiting a Senior Control Systems IT Engineer to lead operations technology (OT) security assurance for Process Control Domain (PCD) systems supporting Shell Nigeria’s upstream production operations (SNEPCo). This role coordinates a team responsible for endpoint security and secure network communications for control systems, ensuring cyber security, compliance, and reliable deployment of OT systems across capital projects from define to execute, through to operational handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assure end-to-end cyber and information security for Process Control Domain (PCD) systems supporting production operations
  • Coordinate and lead a team of IT infrastructure engineers/technicians focused on endpoint security and secure network communications
  • Ensure safe, secure, and reliable deployment of OT systems for SNEPCo capital projects across define-to-execute phases
  • Provide OT security inputs to pre-FEED/FEED deliverables and support FEED contract ITT/evaluation
  • Provide input into PCD detailed engineering design for the execute phase
  • Act as OT security consultant for projects impacting the PCD landscape to ensure compliance with security policies
  • Ensure maturity/compliance assessments are completed and transparent before handover to operations
  • Ensure compliance with business controls for managing and applying changes in the PCD landscape
  • Ensure supportability and transition for projects delivering into PCD operations
  • Participate in firewall rule reviews, ensuring alignment with business needs and appropriate risk assessment
  • Participate in peer reviews and health assessments and implement recommendations
  • Perform deviation management and risk assessment for facilities during execute phase
  • Engage business stakeholders to understand demand, challenges, and feedback on OT security services
  • Liaise with technical authorities to ensure compliance with PCD/IT security requirements
  • Drive incident response and incident management strategies for OT systems
  • Embed “Think Secure” practices and raise OT/IT security awareness among staff

Required Qualification and Skills

  • University Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Communications Engineering or Applied Sciences
  • 5–10 years’ experience in IT business analysis, IT security, IT service delivery and infrastructure support
  • Last 3 years must involve managing operations technology (OT) / PCD security
  • Oil & gas industry experience is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of control systems, IT networks, and OT cyber security
  • Strong understanding of industrial/IT security standards (DEPs, NIST 800-82, OneITCF)
  • Experience with IT and business risk management
  • Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills across senior levels
  • Preferred certifications: GICSP, CISSP; plus CCNP (Enterprise/Security), MCSA, SC100, ITIL v4
  • Exposure to process automation and controls optimization is an advantage
